The Hunger Games by Suzzane Collins

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games #1) by Suzanne Collins
Format:  Hardcover, 374 pages
Release Date: 01 October 2009
Publisher: Scholastic Press

Twenty-four are forced to enter. Only the winner survives. In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. Each year, the districts are forced by the Capitol to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the Hunger Games, a brutal and terrifying fight to the death - televised for all of Panem to see.

Survival is second nature for sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who struggles to feed her mother and younger sister by secretly hunting and gathering beyond the fences of District 12. When Katniss steps in to take the place of her sister in the Hunger Games, she knows it may be her death sentence. If she is to survive, she must weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

I know, who else doesn't know about this book? I bet there would be booing on me now  if I say this book wasn't breath-taking.  It was. And I wasn't disappointed at all. I am sort of obsessed right now with this trilogy I need to get starting with the second book CATCHING FIRE. I don't think making a review right now would be necessary but let me give you a quick one. for those who haven't read it yet, well! Start reading THE HUNGER GAMES now!

My dad is also in the military  and the author Suzanne mentioned that her dad was also in the service and I do understand what its like being out in the jungle trying to survive. I thought this book was awesome. No dull moments, plot was fantastic and loved the writing style of the author. Katniss was something any young girl would want to be. What really touched me was her taking her sister's place for the Hunger Games and also "the boy with the bread". And what freaked me out was the ending scene with Cato and those mutated monsters. It was amazingly eeky and creepy.

I really felt connected with the story. Its provocative, gripping and addicting. I cant wait to read to read the second book soon.  It is RECOMMENDED.

  7. I LOVED the Hunger Games trilogy! Can't believe I waited so long to read it. The writing is pretty good but it's the story and characters that made me love the book so much. Did you read the other books yet?
