Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead
So did his father before him, until he was gruesomely murdered by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father's mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.
When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn't expect anything outside of the ordinary: track, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, now stained red and dripping with blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.
But she, for whatever reason, spares Cas's life.

A girl, with black veins snaking up her pale skin with black eyes and lips, a dark goddess, with her dress dripping blood on the floor.  That's scary alright. But I don’t really loved loved this book, but I do like it in some ways. I loved Cas, a boy who hunts ghost and kill them “again” with his special knife called athame which was left by his late father- murdered by unknown. Cas apparently took over this job after his father died, also to seek revenge. He travels with his witch mom from place to place to kill the new subject. Came one day, evil ghost Anna who have murdered a lot of people were Cas’ next hunt. From there he will meet friends he never had before, and a unique kind of ghost he never encountered his whole life hunting.

OK so this is kind of predictable well at least predictable for me though I was intrigued how Anna died, and what was making her evil. I loved the characters and liked the humors. I also loved being inside of Cas mind and knowing his feelings. Though the whole story didn’t really put me under spell, it was an okay read. The start was very good but then halfway through, I had a hard time connecting to the story. I got bored and frustrated when they were hunting the flesh-eating monster I had to skip a lot of pages just to get to what I find exciting.

So this is only my opinion, It would have been better if the story had stuck with ghost and not a monster who suddenly came out of the knife, I kind of find it improbable and a bit corny,  and when the "athame"(knife-thing) was stolen, it took him ages to get it from his friend.

But then again don’t take my word for it, you may like it or even love it too. I wont say I hate this book because I have kind of enjoyed it too. And I will not deny it, I still want to read the second installment. I am kind of curious what will happen next.
