Im Featured at Feature & Follow Friday!

I'm so excited guys, because today I'm featured at Feature & Follow Friday is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alisoncanread. How cool is that?

The question for this week is: What is your biggest pet peeve(s) when it comes to books?

Annoying heroes and heroines - lead characters that are lacking of emotions, certain attitudes and brains, it'll screw up the entire book and you'll loose track of everything just because you couldn't relate anymore coz you're too busy bitch-slapping the character in your head... Flawed character is fine, but dude, we want a bad-ass, intelligent and independent heroes specially for heroines in YA books.

Unrealistic and cheesy dialogues - you know what I mean! Unnecessary mentions of names like:
 Jack! I found you!
Rose! You came! How did you know?
or characters bursting into laugh when its not really funny at all. *rolls eyes*

Now its your turn! What you got for this week's question? Please leave your links in the comment so I could follow you back! Have a good weekend!

  6. YES YES YES TO CHEESY DIALOGUE (I have to admit I borrowed this one--you reminded me of a line in a book that drove me nuts as it was DRIPPING with cheese).

And YES to annoying heroes/heroines. Can't stand this... it's so hard to define what makes for an annoying protag, though...

  32. Hi Lalaine - congratulations on being one of this week's FF features!

I completely hear you with the annoying heroes and heroines. If they are the stars of the book I want to be able to connect to them in some way. A few quirks or fears rounds out a character, but don't make me want to smother them with a pillow in their sleep!

  48. The annoying heroine completely annoys me, especially if she's less 'heroine' and more 'damsel in distress'. If you continually need saving, you're clearly not learning anything. I always want to shake them and shout 'Get the point would ya and learn how to defend yourself already!' I think it's worse when a weak character is somehow portrayed as a hero at that.

I can handle an annoying heroes/heroines as long as there is great character development or as long as there is growth from beginning to end. But a shallow character with no development, just there to be there for no reason, I can NOT stand that. I can't stand cheesy dialogue either. Causes me massive seizures from excessive eye rolling.

    Congrats on the feature :0)

    ReplyDelete
  54. I agree.. cheesy dialogue has to be one of the worst things.. UNLESS it plays.. you know like when a character likes Chuck Norris jokes or something.. But then we know that the AUTHOR is intending for cheese...

Great post and congrats!! New follower and new to Feature & Follow

  55. Oh how true those words are. I am in complete agreeance with you on the lack of emotion and credibility of those type of characters. Cheeesy dialog = badly developed characters. Can't relate to them means no connection and I'm not likely to continue reading.

Oh my goodness, I cannot agree with you more if I tried. It is annoying when the main character's come across as wishy-washy, weak, and extremely shallow. Ugh! It just makes the whole story not really worth reading that much.

I hate when the thing they've said sounds like they were written for a middle school English class because it is "proper" English, and not how people actually talk. I see you're currently reading Hallowed! I've got that egalley on my Nook right now, will be reading it probably after the book I'm reading right now.
